Seel what is not pprecious

"For Christ's sake, I have stripped away everything." Philippians 3.8-9

Discovering God's love for one's own life is an invaluable treasure that is worth more than anything we might own. Here is the letter received by a member of the Gideon Association :

"My dad was an alcoholic and spent all his money on drinking, we lived in a poor neighborhood of Belfast, and when I was in high school I got a New Testament from the Gideons, I did not read it. I started looking for pleasures and sensations, trying everything the world can offer, but I found no satisfaction, I felt more and more the void of my existence and I led a hectic life It was then that I remembered the New Testament received at the college, I found it and, flipping through the introductory pages, I read : "Help if needed" followed by a series of Bible verses.

Discovering God's love for his own life is an invaluable treasure ...

During the reading of the proposed texts, the love of Christ reached me and I received salvation by accepting it as a personal Savior.

I had to write to you to tell you everything this New Testament brought me and what it meant to me. I enclose a small donation to assist you with the help you can bring to others."

A member of the Gideon Association went to see this young man to thank him. When he asked him where he had taken the money to make the donation, the young man replied that he had no money, giving everything to his mother for food, but that he sold what he he had more precious: his CD collection. He had done it so that other boys and girls could get to know Jesus Christ.

And how did you know God ? Thanks to your family maybe, or even to someone you did not know ? Although God reveals himself to everyone personally, he often uses people he places in our path. How not to be grateful to them ?

Moreover, we who have discovered this treasure, what testimony do we give to it ? Do we accept to pay a price so that others, in turn, find this treasure ?

An action for today

Desire ardently that by our life, others find salvation, even if it is at the price of what is still dear to your eyes.
