Simple faith
Searching the Scriptures
Naaman was indignant and went away saying : "I said to myself : He will come out in person to me, he will call on the name of the Lord his God, he will make a movement of his hand on the sick place and will heal my leprosy" […] He (Naaman) then went down and immersed himself 7 times in the Jordan, in accordance with the word of the man of God. His flesh became like that of a young child again and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:11-14
Although Naaman was a "mighty and valiant man," he was weak in the face of the onslaught of leprosy. Following the recommendation of his wife's maid, he turned to Elisha, but became angry when the prophet said to him : "Go and wash yourself 7 times in the Jordan. Your flesh will become healthy and you will be clean." (2 Kings 5:10)
Naaman probably imagined that Elisha was going to do something spectacular or remarkable. He didn't understand why he had to go swimming in the Jordan. His servants were able to convince him : "If the prophet had asked you something difficult, would you not have done it ? You should all the more willingly do what he said to you : « Wash yourself, and you shall be clean ! »" And when Naaman obeyed Elisha's words, he was instantly healed.
Like Naaman, it is sometimes difficult to simply obey God and his Word, and act in faith. We may be tempted to doubt that anything is possible for him and that his Word is the truth. It may seem unrealistic to believe that all we need to do is obey him and practice his Word. But God wants us to remember that He rewards those who have faith and who obey wholeheartedly.
Today bring your needs to God as simply as a child would. Don't argue with him, don't hold back, don't rationalize. Trust him completely. Hand over your needs to Him and receive His great power in your life.
Listen to the voice of God
Let’s take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God if there is anything simple you could do today.
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Father, I present my needs to you. I put aside my pride, prejudices, and preconceptions. I will obey you and trust you. In the name of Jesus. Amen."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. What are your subjects of recognition today ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
“Father, you have the big picture of my life. I choose to obey you in all simplicity, like a little child. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. 'so be it !"
