So the house will remain...

We have not brought anything into the world and it is obvious that we cannot take anything out of it. 1 Timothy 6.7

A sympathetic nonagenarian chats with Thibault, five years old. Later, I inform my grandson that the gentleman lives alone.

Thibault : "He doesn't have a mom ?"

Me : “You know, she's been dead for a long time."

Thibault : "Afterwards, it will be him... Then the house will remain with lots of things..."

I pensive about the wisdom of these childish words. That's right, the house... will remain, with everything in it, the man will take nothing. The Pharaohs had another belief : they had their wife and their dog buried with them, in the hope of continuing the adventure with them in their converted pyramid-tomb !

Belief from another time ? Not so sure ! I note all the same that many people imagine life in the hereafter as a simple continuation of their existence here below, and we are sometimes reassured by calling out to a dead person : "Where you are, put a cold beer for me !"

What a tragic illusion ! However, it contains an element of truth, very different depending on the person :

Whoever has lived without God on this earth, refusing the grace of the Savior, will spend eternity without God, deprived of all that emanates from him : love, joy, peace...

But he who will have lived here below with his Savior, will spend his eternity with him in infinite happiness.

Which continuity will you choose ?
