Speak as appropriate to a Christian

"The lips of the righteous know favor." Proverbs 10.32

In his 1988 presidential campaign, George H. W. Bush admitted to making inappropriate remarks to two journalists after a televised debate. Bush had treated one of them as "bird names", and even insulted the CBS chain. In the face of criticism, he said, "If I had known that the microphone was open, I would not have blasphemed, and I apologize for it."

God hears every word spoken.

In fact, he should not have done it, whether the cameras record or not. Remember, God's camera is still running ! The Bible says : "The ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, who smooths all his ways." Proverbs 5.21.

Centuries ago, Jesus declared : "All that is hidden will be discovered, and all that is secret will be known, and all that you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light of day, and what you whisper in someone else's ear in a closed room will be shouted from the rooftops." Luke 12.2-3

A reflection for today

"The heart of the righteous ponders to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out bad words." Proverbs 15.28

"The lips of the righteous know the favor, and the mouth of the wicked the evil." Proverbs 10.32

The first verse tells us that a wise person thinks before speaking, because he realizes that every word has consequences. The second tells us that a righteous person automatically knows what is right, and do not forget that God hears every word spoken.
