Stay at the table, or enter the dance floor ?

"And I do this because of the gospel in order to share in its blessings" (1 Corinthians 9:23).

I often sat down at weddings, while people were dancing. I really do not like dancing, even if I would not refuse a romantic slow with my wife... Marriage after marriage, I stood there on the side, watching from time to time people dance. I have nothing against that, it's just not part of what I like to do. Jesus said that his generation looked like this : children who played the flute without people dancing, and who sang funeral songs without people lamenting (Matthew 11: 16-17). This is what happens when we hear the Word of God without answering it. The Word of God enters us and dries for lack of roots. She dies, suffocated. When I hear the Word of God and do not answer it, I am a little like when I stay at my table at a wedding while others are dancing. I do not want to go, and it's not that I want to displease the bride and groom.

God invites us to participate in the gospel. He calls us, he invites us, he wants us to be able to take part in his table and let us relax with succulent food. But we are not always interested, like all those people who were too busy to respond to the invitation of this man whose Jesus speaks in Luke 14. One had to go to see a field, the other had to go and try his hand. oxen, yet another wanted to enjoy his marriage. Then, after telling this parable, Jesus turned to the crowds and said to them : "If anyone comes to me without preferring me to his father, his mother, his wife, his children, his brothers and his sisters, and even to his own life, he can not be my disciple" (Luke 14:26). Do we sit at the table watching others do the will of God, or do we enter the dancefloor, the one God is offering us, dancing with the Holy Spirit, rejoicing his heart with our obedience, forsaking our lives ?
