"And he retired into the desert, and prayed." Luke 5.16
Despite the great success of his ministry, Jesus Christ used to spend time in the presence of God. Near him, he stood in prayer in order to receive the necessary provision to accomplish the work entrusted to him.
During an evangelistic mission, I had been accommodated in a very comfortable hotel with a spacious bed to offer you the best rest. The next room was occupied by a pastor of a certain age, who was spoken with great praise. He had a wonderful ministry whose foundation was based on his relationship with God. There was not a single night when I heard him speak to God. Preferring the hardness of the ground to the comfort of his bed, a bible in his hand, he stood near him. "O LORD, I love the abode of your house, the place where your glory dwells." Psalm 26.8
To be near God is a precious good, to maintain a communion with him is a fact that nothing can equal. It is therefore of the utmost importance to take a moment each day in order to find ourselves near him.
Is not this the example that the Lord has shown us ? "But when you pray, enter your room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is there in the secret place and your Father who sees in the secret, will return it to you." Matthew 6: 6
To maintain a communion with God is a fact that nothing can equal.
Near him, it is the guarantee for you to be to the benefit of its innumerable riches and to see him respond in a very particular way to your prayers. With such devotion, your whole life will be affected on a daily basis.
"I would like to dwell forever in your tent, and take refuge in the shelter of your wings : for you, O God, hear my prayers." Psalm 61: 4-5
A prayer for today
Father, teach me to stand before you every day, to behold your glory and your magnificence and be imbued with your presence ! Amen.
