Stop and turn around

From then on Jesus began to preach, and to say : Change your attitude, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 4:17

No one likes to be disturbed in their sleep... If in the middle of the night, a voice suddenly woke you up screaming : "Fire ! Fire ! You would find the experience unpleasant. But if that scream got out of the comfort of your bed to escape a terrible fire, you wouldn't dare to complain !

At first glance, it is unpleasant to hear Jesus tell us to repent. But why is he doing it ? To save us from the coming divine judgment. Yes, his words sound harsh and harsh, but they are words of love that warn us of danger. These are words that awaken us from the unconsciousness of our perdition and allow us to be saved.

Imagine a father who sees his child running towards a precipice : won't he cry to stop him ? All men are like this unconscious son... But God is like this loving father who warns them of danger ! He warns them : Wide is the gate, wide is the way to perdition, and there are many who enter through it. (Matthew 7:13)

He tells us to stop and turn around to follow the path He marked out in Jesus Christ. His promise : Whoever believes and repents of his sins with him, will not perish, but will have eternal life.
