"I have set before you life and death ... Choose life." Deuteronomy 30.19
The power of choice is the greatest power God has given you. Too many people are simply suffering their lives without trying to take control. That is why, many never change.
Never forget that you are a unique person.
Elie Wiesel, a survivor of the Shoa, wrote in his essay "Souls on Fire" that when you die and meet your creator, he will not ask you why you were not a messiah or why you did not find the Cancer drug. But he will say : "Why have not you been yourself ? Why have you not valued what you are ?"
Accomplishing God's will for your life means being responsible for yourself and your life. How to get there ? By saying yes, to God and then to yourself. Thus, you will have access to the greatest opportunities. If you often say no, you will find it difficult. Then, at worst, say at least "maybe".
One day, a father asked Jesus to cure his sick child, if he could. Jesus said to him : "If thou canst ... all things are possible to him that believeth : and immediately the father of the child cried out, I believe, and come to the help of my unbelief." (Mark 9: 23-24).
If you doubt, do the same prayer, and God will answer you. Never forget that you are someone unique, with talents, abilities and experiences that nobody has known before and will not know anymore.
An Encouragement for Today
You are called to become all that God has made of you, not only for your personal benefit but also for others.
