Take pleasure in glorifying God !
Search the Scriptures
Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians10.31
In 1643, the English Parliament abolished the episcopal system in force in the Church. An assembly of 121 clerics and 30 lay people meets at Westminster Abbey to rebuild everything. The documents resulting from these six years of deliberations are among the most famous in the history of the Anglican Church.
The first question in the Westminster Shorter Catechism is : "What is the chief purpose of man ?" Answer : "Glorify God and rejoice in him forever." The implications are as simple as they are profound and if you are wise they will be your lifeline this year. Glorify God. Obey God. Enjoy God.
When you know your life glorifies Him, you enjoy the presence of God. Otherwise, you avoid it like the plague. Bad idea ! Because without his divine presence, what are your chances of truly succeeding ?
As you look back over the past year, are there things you regret because you know God was not exalted there ? Today God gives you an opportunity to reverse the trend : let any good resolution be based on this verse : "Whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God."
By following this golden rule, you will not stray from the right path, and you will experience the peace and joy of knowing that you are pleasing the Lord. Whatever happens, from now on, you will face everything with serenity and confidence, because God is certainly with you !
Listen the voice of God
Let's listen to what the Lord wants to tell us. Are there areas of our lives where we don't fully glorify God ? Let his Holy Spirit enlighten us on this subject.
Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, I know that your desire is to make me grow and to see me progress for your glory. Help me to lift you up and find my joy in you in every moment, in every circumstance. "
Praise God
To praise God is to express our gratitude to him and it is also a way of glorifying him! Remember all the times He has been involved in your life over the past year, and then take the time to say thank you with all your heart for everything, big or small.
Act today
What if you applied what you heard ? Resolve to do your best to glorify God in your thoughts, words, and actions. Write down all the ideas that come to mind, and select the one, or those, that you can put into practice today.
Honor the Lord
Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"My desire is to please you, Jesus. Thank you because, by your Spirit, you enable me to do this. Not by my strength, but by your Spirit, Lord ! Receive all the glory ! In the name of Jesus, amen !"
