Tell her you love her
I love the Lord, for he hears my voice and my pleas. Psalm 116.1
In the American Midwest, a little girl was born deaf and mute. Shortly after his birth, his mother died. Her father was to take care of her alone. And he did it with all his heart. Outside of his working hours, it was to her that he devoted all his time, giving her all his love. Together they learned sign language that no one around them understood, but the two got along wonderfully.
Years passed, and the father had to go to work in Europe. A friend advised her to place the child in a deaf-mute institution where she would be taken good care of. He decided to take this advice. His absence lasted almost a year. The child yearned for his father and couldn't wait for his return. It wasn't just the happiness to see him again that made her so impatient, it was a secret. Indeed, in this school, they had taught him to move his lips and to say a few words.
When the father returned, she ran into his arms, pressed her lips to his ear and whispered to him : "Daddy, I love you." It was more than he could take : he collapsed, overcome with emotion. The girl leaned against her head again and kept saying : "Daddy, I love you."
It is not enough for us to know God, to know all that he has done for us. He also expects from us this declaration of love that the little girl made to her father.
