Testimony of a blind man
Jesus said to him : Go ahead, your faith has saved you. Immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus on the way. Mark 10.52
The Gospel according to Mark tells us the story of the blind beggar Bartimaeus. We can learn a lot from this story.
By crying : Son of David, Jesus... this blind man shows that he believes that Jesus is the Messiah, son of David king of Israel, announced (Isaiah 9.5 ; Psalm 2.7 ; Psalm 89.4-5) in the Old Testament. While many want to silence him, his hope in Jesus is already complete, and he continues to cry : Have mercy on me (Mark 10:47).
Then Jesus, knowing the faith of Bartimaeus, stops. He asks to be called, encouraged instead of silenced. As soon as the call is heard, Bartimaeus takes off his garment which could hinder him from going to Jesus. What do you want me to do for you ? asks Jesus. My Master, said the blind man, let me recover my sight (Mark 10.51). Without imposing any conditions on him, without a gesture on him, Jesus said to him : Go ahead, your faith has saved you. Immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus on the way.
To meditate :
Am I ready, like Bartimaeus, to quickly get rid of any obstacle to come to Jesus ?
Does my faith in Jesus make me love him and follow him as his disciple ?
Like Bartimaeus, let us choose today to follow Jesus.

Proposed reading : Gospel according to Mark, chapter 10, verses 46 to 52.
10:46 They came to Jericho. When Jesus left the city with his disciples and a rather large crowd, Bartimaeus, the blind son of Timaeus, was sitting begging by the wayside.
10.47 He heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth and began to cry : Son of David, Jesus, have mercy on me !
10.48 Many rebuked him to silence him, but he cried much louder : Son of David, have mercy on me !
10.49 Jesus stopped and said : Call him. They called the blind man saying to him : Take courage, get up, he is calling you.
10.50 The blind man threw off his cloak and, rising quickly, came to Jesus.
10.51 Jesus answered and said to him : What do you want me to do for you ? My Master, replied the blind man, may I recover my sight.
10.52 Jesus said to him : Go ahead, your faith has saved you. Immediately he regained his sight and followed Jesus on the way.
