The authority of the Holy Scriptures

All Scripture is inspired by God, and useful for teaching, for convincing, for correcting, for instructing in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

Christians, let us rejoice every day to have the Bible and to benefit from the presence of the Holy Spirit in us to make it understood ! What an immense privilege : the thoughts of God are communicated to us and we can somewhat discern the greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ : We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which comes from God, in order to know the blessings that God has given us by his grace (1 Corinthians 2:12).

Indeed, the Bible is entirely inspired by God without one part being more so than the other. An insurmountable gap therefore separates the Word of God from any other book, even religious. For the Christian, it bears within itself the seal of his authority, the authority of our God.

It does not matter if, since Eden, what God said has been "questioned" and if many people have attacked the authenticity of the books which compose it ;

It does not matter if scientists have sought to ridicule it by inventing theories of limited validity ;

It does not matter if theologians have developed explanations which divert their true meaning ; for the believer, the Bible remains the sole source of knowledge of God :

It contains all the instructions that can enable him to live in accordance with the thoughts of God and to follow the model left by Jesus, his Savior who became his Lord.

It also contains the revelations that God has seen fit to reveal to him concerning the plan he pursues from the creation of the world until the establishment of the eternal state.

It thus gives him all assurance as to his eternal future : the Lord comes to seek him in order to introduce him into divine bliss.

Yes, let us give the Bible all the authority it deserves ; let us always read it with deep respect for all its teachings ; let us find in her the encouragement and consolation that we need throughout our life ; above all, more and more every day, let us understand the love with which we have been loved and by which we remain loved eternally.
