The banquet, the oil and the cup !

Psalms 23.5 (BFC) – In the face of those who wish me harm, you prepare a banquet for me. You welcome me by pouring a little perfumed oil on my head. You fill my cup to the brim.

What richness in these sentences ! How many children of God throughout the centuries have been encouraged, consoled and blessed by the reading of this song. Ah ! I didn't tell you ? A psalm is a song of praise. David explains here three images of what the Lord is preparing for his elect. Very soon we will be at the banquet of God, seated with our betrothed Jesus to celebrate the wedding feast of the Lamb of God. All the enemies of the Lord, who are our enemies, will see this marvelous blessing and they will gnash their teeth, never being able to reach us again.

The Lord anoints us with his oil... Hallelujah, He gives us his Spirit, his presence flows over us and fills us with a pleasant odor. The Holy Spirit is doing amazing things on earth and millions of Christians are filled with this anointing that smells like Christ. The testimony of Jesus is preached everywhere, the Word is accompanied by powerful signs. Mmmm the good smell of the Spirit of God ! Finally, the Lord fills our cup with His grace. The cup of bitterness was drunk by Jesus on the cross, He bore our pains and our sufferings and He offers us today grace, that is to say complete forgiveness, a life overflowing with his love. and his sympathy. It may be hard for you right now... look up to the sky... do you see the table prepared for you ? Do you see the Lord pouring his anointing on you ? Do you see the cup of blessings and grace He is offering you ? Take heart, these things are real !
