The benevolence of the Lord
Searching the Scriptures
I am too small for all the graces and for all the fidelity you have shown to me, your servant. Genesis 32.11
As I meditated on this verse, I couldn't stop my tears from rolling down my face. Indeed, images of the pitiful state I lived in before giving my life to Christ resurfaced in my memory.
I thought of all those nights when I had had the streets for a dormitory and misery for a pillow... telling myself that God had granted my dreams of yesterday and that it would be very selfish of me not to recognize all His benefits.
This prayer of Jacob takes on an immense sense of unworthiness. He recognizes in it all the benevolence and fidelity of God in his favor : "I am too small for all the graces and for all the fidelity you have shown to me."
Quite frankly, how much time do we spend complaining, lamenting before God as if he owed us something ?
Remember who you were yesterday and see what you've become today! Then just like Jacob, it will be easy for you to realize the immensity of the grace God has shown you !
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. His benevolence for you is immense and limitless, even today.
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, how great your kindness is to those who put their hope in you ! Teach me to cultivate gratitude towards you."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you Lord for all the graces you show to me. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
