The Bible

"Open my eyes, and I will see the wonders that are in your law." Psalm 119.18

The Bible contains 66 books written over a period of 1500 years by about 40 authors. It is the most extraordinary collection in the world.

Despite the diversity of writing styles, the personality of the authors (shepherds, kings, prophets, apostles ...), circumstances or place of writing (desert, palace, prison ...), the Bible shows from Genesis to the Apocalypse A unit worthy of admiration. A unity that only the Holy Spirit can produce.

The book is incomparable because, the Bible puts the soul naked and speaks to the conscience of each one. It touches the being deep within itself, without ever flattering it or appealing to the low instincts of man.

An admirable book which, by a few lines or words, can elevate the mind to the highest spheres of thought.

A book more precious than all the treasures of the earth because it reveals to us the thoughts of a righteous and holy God who can not tolerate sin but who loves the sinner. The greatest proof of this love is brought by God Himself: He has given us Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, "that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3: 16).

The Bible is a treasure, but a treasure different from those collected on this earth. With his hands, man has produced objects which can fill us with admiration, so much did they require skill, skill, patience, ingenuity. Without life, they are in museums, jealously guarded. If you touch them, it is to remove the dust that settles there.

The Bible is quite different. It is present because it is alive and permanent (1 Pet. 1:23). It is a treasure as long as it is read and meditated in a calm, with the desire to know God and his Son Jesus Christ. To understand it, the Christian has the best guide that can help him, for he possesses the Holy Spirit.

The Bible affects everyday life : it responds to all situations. It is both a treasure and an instrument. Unlike the tools of this world, it never wears out when used. It has stood the test of time, it will still resist.
