“I would cause a prophet like you to arise for them from the midst of their brother. I will put my words in his mouth and he will tell them whatever I command him. ” Deuteronomy 18. 18

Bible experts place the writing of Deuteronomy nearly 1,500 years before the birth of Christ. In this book God announces the coming of the Messiah, the “prophet like you” (Moses) who will speak in the name of God. Many people do not believe the prophecies in the Bible, for the simple reason that they have not bothered to study them and verify those that have already been fulfilled. You will not find any prophecy in any other religion. On the other hand, God announced the coming of Jesus, and Jesus announced that He would be resurrected. Prophecies are extremely precise and most of the time they foreshadow events that have no chance of happening or the fulfillment of which is the opposite of what humans can imagine. Some critics of the Bible claim that the prophecies were written after the events foretold. Yet the fulfillment of the majority of prophecies took place long, sometimes centuries, after the death of the prophets who reported them. One example in particular stands out : the prophecies concerning Babylon. While many ancient cities were rebuilt with modern quarters still populated today, Babylon on the contrary is a desert of sand and ruins, haunted only by hyenas, scorpions and vipers. Once the most extraordinary city in the world consisted of a succession of palaces, temples, imposing towers not to mention the famous hanging gardens. She invented an alphabet, found the solution to complex arithmetic problems, and even our system of calculating time has its origin in Babylon. Its scientists determined a method of calculating time based on the number 60, which we find on our watches and clocks today ! Now God announced that the walls of the city would be destroyed (Jeremiah 51-58-62) and that the city would remain forever uninhabited (Jeremiah 50. 13, 39). Alexander the Great decided to rebuild it and make it his capital. He died very soon after, at the age of 32. This is just one example among many !
