The Bible is true (3)

“But if man dies, will he live again ?” Job 14. 14

This is the question that has haunted men the most for ages. Is death the end of everything ? Is our body only used to "fertilize the dandelions" after we die, as an atheist Jew once put it bluntly ? Few, in fact, are men who believe only in earthly life and refuse any possibility of a future life. Why ?

1- the first law of thermodynamics states that energy or matter can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only transform. No atom of creation can therefore disappear. If human beings were to cease to exist, they would be the only thing in the universe that can be annihilated.

2- Nature gives us the example of a perpetual restart. Would God have chosen to let the spirit of man "made in His image" pass away while creation remained ?

3- man has a feeling of eternity which is part of his genes. Solomon exclaims : "He has placed in our hearts the desire for eternity" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). Only man feels this need to live forever and does not accept any other solution to the mystery of life. The poet Emerson wrote : "The most glaring proof of our immortality is our dissatisfaction with accepting any other solution." This sense of immortality is found, in one form or another, in every people, race or religion on our planet. God created us for eternity. But we had to wait for Jesus to come and His resurrection to receive confirmation that death has been conquered and will one day be completely gone. Jesus words, “I am the first and the last, the living one. I was dead and behold, I am alive forever and ever. I hold the keys to death and hell.” (Revelation 1:17,18), are our guarantee that we too will live, even after we die. The important question is not : "can a man live again ?" but rather "where will he spend eternity ?"
