The candle of Christmas

How long is the light of a candle ? It is obvious that the light will go out when the candle is consumed. But, if you light another candle using the first one, the light will double in intensity. Will the light of the first candle be diminished because it turned on the second ? No. If we use the second to light a third, will the light diminish ? No. The light of each candle will last until it goes out. However, when the first candle goes out, the second will always be lit. When the second candle goes out, the third will sparkle again. If we continue to light candles, the light will never go out. It is an image of the testimony of the Church. When the Son of God was on the earth, he lit the first candle. After that, other candles were lit one after the other.

Since Pentecost, the Church has been like a candle ; when one candle was extinguished, another remained lit to preserve the testimony. This is repeated again today. The Church has never ceased to shine on this earth. Likewise, salvation never stopped. Some have lit ten candles, others have lit a hundred. The candles were lit one after the other and the light never stopped shining.

Brothers and sisters, do you want your light to continue to shine or do you want to see it disappear when your candle goes out ? Your candle was lit by someone. This person does not expect your light to go out.

Every Christian must do his best to witness to others and bring them to the Lord, so that witness can continue on this earth from generation to generation. It is unfortunate that the light of some people goes out and their testimony ceases. This is a shame.
