The caterpillar

The caterpillar

A businessman had done well in his career, and he was proud of it. One morning, in his garden, he noticed a caterpillar barely climbing up a stake. Was she really going to make it to the top ? Fascinated by the efforts of the insect he said to himself :

- Me too, I struggled to get to the top. I had to work tirelessly to achieve this coveted position. Here, I succeeded. I am at the "top".

Deep in thought, he still observed the caterpillar which, after reaching the top, turned around and came down : it had not found any green leaves at the top, it was on a dry stick.

The man, suddenly shaken, began to think. Would his success in the world bring him true happiness ? Was he happy now ? As disappointed as the caterpillar, he had found nothing that could truly satisfy his deepest aspirations, nothing of lasting and everlasting value.

Jesus asked his disciples : "What good will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, if he loses his soul ?" He also said : "Come to me all you who are weary and bowed down under a burden, and I will give you rest. Accept my demands and let yourselves be instructed by me, for I am meek and humble of heart and you will find the right one. rest for your soul" (Matthew 16. 26 ; 11. 28, 29). To come to Jesus is to find with him forgiveness for his faults, peace and eternal life.
