The center of the Bible

Stop placing your trust in human beings ! His life is but a breath ! What is its actual value ? Isaiah 2.22

Like the sea, the Bible is a book so deep that an avid reader will never be able to touch its bottom. No human being can fathom the infinite wealth of divine thought. And yet, any sincere and humble person can understand the message. It really is an amazing book...

The Bible contains 66 books divided into 1189 chapters and 31173 verses (numbers vary depending on the version). Do you want to know the central verse of the whole Bible ? This is verse 8 of Psalm 118 : Better to seek refuge in the Eternal than to put your trust in man. It seems that God has placed this word as a signpost leading to two opposite paths that concern the question of the foundation of our life : In whom, then, have you put your trust (Isaiah 36:5) ? In God or in men ?

To trust in man, with his thoughts corrupted by Satan the deceiver, leads to an aimless life, often accompanied by disorder, dissatisfaction, suffering. And, in the afterlife, to eternal ruin.

To trust in God is to find true love, truth, meaning in life, a safe haven in trials. And, in eternity, the incomparable joy of being in the divine presence.

To put one's trust in the God of the Bible is to put him... at the center of our life !

17.5 This is what the Eternal says : Cursed be the man who trusts in what is human, who takes creatures for his support and who turns his heart away from the Eternal !

17.6 He is like a juniper in the plain : he sees nothing good coming, he dwells in the scorched places of the desert, a salty land without inhabitants.

17.7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Eternal and puts his hope in him !

17.8 It looks like a tree planted near water and extending its roots towards the stream : it does not notice the onset of heat and its foliage remains green. In a year of drought, he fears nothing and he never ceases to bear fruit.

17.9 The heart is crooked more than anything, and it is incurable. Who can know him ?

17.10 I, the Eternal, search the heart, I examine the loins to treat each one according to his conduct, to the fruit of his doings.

17:11 He who acquires wealth unjustly is like a partridge brooding on eggs it did not lay : in the middle of its life it abandons it, and in the end it will be only 'a mad person.

17.12 There is a throne of glory, eminent from the beginning : therein is our sanctuary.

17.13 Eternal, you are the hope of Israel ! All who abandon you will blush with shame.
