"The Christian" from Bangladesh (2)

Wednesday February 9, 2022

Go to your house, to your loved ones, and tell them all that the Lord has done for you, how he has had mercy on you. Mark 5. 19

Those who sow with tears will reap with joy. Psalm 126.5

"The Christian" from Bangladesh (2)

"In 1976, one of the missionaries from the local church came to me and said : 'I have six young men here who have come from their village. They are all Muslims and they want to know what to do to be saved. You understand Muslims, so go talk to these young people and find out if they are serious or not."

So I spent two or three hours with them and I realized that they knew Jesus. They had received some Christian books, read them, and then believed in Jesus.

Until then, my experience of the church, as a believer of Muslim origin, had not been very positive. Christians wanted Muslims to come to faith, but some discomfort persisted.

So I said to these young Muslims : "I see that Jesus is in your heart. Go home, but don't call yourself a Christian. Your parents will know it soon enough, seeing your life changed. When they start asking you questions, tell them about Jesus."

After they left, I told the missionary what had happened. He was very upset because he thought I had missed my chance. But a month later, one of the six Muslims returned, accompanied by 15 elders from his community. He announced to me : "These men also want to become disciples of Jesus". The following month, they returned with 16 new people. And for the next eight years, hundreds came to study the Bible with me."
