The danger of anger

“It’s an honor for someone to refuse arguments. But stupid people get angry. ” Proverbs 20.3

God calls us to be wise. Wise people bring peace and not trouble, they do not seek to confront others and avoid unnecessary discussions that could go wrong. Any foolish person is capable of starting an argument, but wise is one who controls their reactions and knows how to resolve relationship problems before they escalate. Some tips for escaping the dangerous terrain of anger :

1- Do not let yourself go to compare this or that person (spouse, boss, children) with others, let alone with yourself (2 Corinthians 10, 12-13). Each of us is unique. God does not compare you with another of His children, do not act differently.

2- Do not condemn anyone, do not judge anyone. Making the other feel guilty is counterproductive. “Whoever you are, man, you who judge, you are therefore inexcusable. In fact, by judging others you condemn yourself, since you who judge you act like them” (Romans 2.1).

3- Avoid contradicting others. If you're sure you're right, sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut to keep your relationship peaceful. Psychologist William James once said : "Wisdom is the art of knowing when to be quiet and what to ignore." There are many topics of little importance that can nevertheless cause tension between us. If the only interest in addressing them is to satisfy our ego or to grow in the eyes of others, God will not be glorified by our attitude. So better to keep silence and calm in our heart. James writes : “So then, my beloved brothers and sisters, let each one be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to be angry, for the anger of man does not fulfill the righteousness of God” (James 1. 19-20).
