The description of the inconverti

We saw yesterday that the unbeliever is left to himself, surrendering himself to his instincts, self-imbued and arrogant. He sometimes spreads insults against what he does not know, God. He finds it his pleasure to engage in debauchery in broad daylight, his eyes full of adultery and an insatiable need to sin. Sometimes he traps those who are unstable by his speeches (many unbelievers have already told me : "When you grow up, you will understand that God does not exist." My beard has bleached, and I know he lives). He has nothing to learn about the love of money.

Paul will add elsewhere the description of those who have not cared to know God : "As they did not care to know God, God delivered them to their reprehensible sense, to commit unworthy things, being filled with all kinds of injustice, malice, greed, malice ; full of envy, murder, quarrel, cunning, malignity ; rapporteurs, slanderers, impious, arrogant, haughty, boastful, ingenious to evil, rebellious to their parents, devoid of intelligence, loyalty, natural affection, mercy" (Romans 1: 28-31). I hope you did not recognize yourself there! Otherwise, you need repentance.

Few preachers dare to describe the unbeliever. We hear so little about it. Yet the apostles felt by the Holy Spirit that they should write and teach about it so that we would not be deceived by manipulative and impious men. Too often I have talked to people who were hiding behind their religion or good works, thinking that all this made them friends of God. In reality, they refused to convert to God and tear their hearts apart. They refused to submit to the Father of spirits to have life. Will we tell these people like a doctor who is unconscious to a patient : "With all these exercises, you are in very good health. Everything will be alright !", although this man is close to death ? No, we should tell them : Save yourself from this evil generation (Acts 2:40) !
