When we return from a time of evangelization and apparently the harvest does not seem to be there, we must continue to walk by faith, and not be discouraged. We must believe that the Word of God is powerful and we must water the seed with our prayers. We pray before, we pray during, and we pray after, as a wise farmer who takes care of his land. It is the Lord who will reward us and it is for him that we live. It's for him that we go. It is to him that we obey. It is to him that we seek to please ; we do not seek to please men or ourselves for self-satisfaction. We seek his approval, and we know that he approves us when we go in his name with a good heart.
We do not like these times of discouragement, but at the same time, we are pruned in those moments. Because in these moments, the deepest motivations are purified. All that is carnal must disappear. When we are discouraged, we ask ourselves why we are doing this. Why are we talking about Jesus around us ? And the answer refines us again. Despair makes us look like we are in the hands of the potter. He shapes us. Lord, shape me so that I always bear more fruit ! Of course, we must not become friends with discouragement, because it is contrary to the courage that God always wants to share with us, and it is always the enemies of God who use it to stop us. I must not be so disheartened as to become depressed or incredulous. I have touched this condition more than once, but the Lord has lifted me from it. I give thanks to him who strengthened me. It will strengthen me again, when I go through these difficult times. It is the road of all the servants of God. It is a path through which all who want to live deep and real things with God pass.
Do not be discouraged. You have a great God.
