The divine light illuminates everything

"The sun shall not be your light by day, and the light of the moon shall not enlighten you any more ; But the LORD will be your light forever, and your God your glory. Thy sun shall not go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw ; For the LORD will be your light forever, and the days of your mourning shall be ended." Isa. 60: 19,20

God (Elohim) puts everything in place in the universe to place man on earth, the crowning achievement of creation. In his plenitude of power and majesty, "God said : Let there be light ! And the light was" (Gen. 1: 3). Adam was the figure, as the head of the race, of "the one who was to come", Christ, the head of the new creation, which is "life ... the light of men ... shining in darkness" (John 1: 4, 5).

Centuries later, God declares that his light will illuminate his people : "The people who walked in the darkness saw a great light ; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death ... the light shone upon them" (Isaiah 9: 2). God did everything to prepare His people to receive His Son Jesus, "the light of the world" that illuminates every man, without exception, and every man personally, even if not all of them receive it (John 1: 9,10).

But this light, the source of salvation and life, does not remain outside man. For those who receive it, it illuminates their hearts : "The God who said that from the bosom of darkness shines the light, it is he who shone in our hearts to make shine the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ" (2 Corinthians 4: 6). Now become "all sons of light and sons of the day" (1 Thessalonians 5: 5), let us also make every effort to walk to the glory of God so that this light may spread around us : "You are the light of the world : A city on a mountain can not be hidden" (Matthew 5:14).

In a vision, Isaiah transports us to the borders of eternity (verse of the day). The new heavens and the new earth will be completely filled with the presence of God ; The new Jerusalem will have no need "of the sun or the moon to enlighten it, for the glory of God has enlightened it, and the Lamb is its lamp" (Rev. 21:23). That day, all the lights of the world will be extinguished and the plans of God will be fully fulfilled.
