The donating of its blood

“Blood is life”, we can read on a site calling for blood donations. In France, nearly a million patients are transfused each year. No treatment or synthetic medication can today replace blood, which is irreplaceable and vital.

If our blood can save lives, that shed by Jesus saves men who repent of their sins.

What do you mean ?

In Old Testament times, God commanded the Hebrews to offer animal sacrifices in order to be forgiven (Hebrews 9:22). These beasts died in place of sinners, but it was only an image, announcing in advance the true substitute, Jesus.

Indeed, only a perfect human being could atone for the sins of the entire world. Jesus, God made man, was that Person. On the cross he offered his life free from all evil. He sacrificed himself as a lamb without blemish and without spot (1 Peter 1:19). This is how, through his shed blood, he paid God the debt for our sins.

To be saved, there is no need to accumulate efforts and works to please God. Jesus accomplished everything for us once and for all. His shed blood cleanses all those who repent from all their sins. Coming to him and trusting in his work is salvation and peace with God.
