The end of life, an end really ?

The end of life, an end really ?

It is reserved for human beings to die once, after which comes judgment. Hebrews 9:27

On Earth, the municipal register of civil status records the key dates in everyone's civic life, birth, marriage, death. These dates attached to places mark the key stages of our earthly life. However, is man's entire life limited to his journey down here ?

According to the Bible, there will be a resurrection of the body for all. To his curious listeners who would like to discover life after life, Christ replies : "Have you not read what God has told you : I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob ? God is not the God of the dead but of the living" (Matthew 22:31-32).

Job, the famous patriarch tried by the death of his children says : "I know that my Redeemer lives and that he will rise last on the earth" (Job 19:25). He himself already saw "the redeemer" (meaning of the word Redeemer) ! Thus, we cannot consider that everything ends at the last breath. No ! the end of life expressed by men is not the end of everything.

Sudden or slow physical death, medically or naturally accompanied, is only a passage and not a final end. On my decision to Christ here on earth will depend my eternity forever. May our thoughts and hearts work to prepare for the afterlife on earth! May the Word of God be our only reference to do this.

Proposed reading : Gospel according to John, chapter 5, verses 24 to 29.

5.24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

5.25 Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is already there, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear it will live.

5.26 For just as the Father has life in himself, so he gave the Son to have life in himself.

5.27 And he also gave him power to judge, because he is the Son of man.

5.28 Do not marvel at this, for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and

5.29 will come out : those who have done good will be resurrected for life, but those who have done evil will be resurrected for judgment.
