"The father of the believers" was not perfect

"And the LORD said unto Abram : Go, leave thy land, thy family, and thy father's house, that thou mayest return unto the land which I shall speak unto thee : I will make thee a great nation, and bless thee , I will make you an important man and you will become a source of blessing for others." Genesis 12: 1-2

Abraham is called "the father of the believers" and yet he was not perfect. Even at the very beginning of his journey with God, he did not obey him entirely. The LORD told him to leave his country and his family and to go to an unknown country. Now Abraham obeyed only in part: he actually left his country and his father's house, but he took his nephew Lot.

His conduct was not always irreproachable, but he maintained a covenant relationship with the God who restored all things.

During his journey of faith, Abraham lied, used subterfuges and did things that he should not have done, but the Lord continued to work with him. He kept repeating to her : "What I have said about you will come true."

Action for Today

Rest assured ! You do not need to be perfect to walk in the blessing of God ! Continue to invoke His name and believe in the covenant that Jesus made with you through His blood. God will restore all things.
