Living for oneself in unrestrained search for one's interests without even granting a piece of time to God has long been my lifestyle. Although I went regularly to worship on Sundays, it was none the less true that it was just to please my wife. The worst moment was the offering, knowing that I was already struggling to pay our bills. I found it unsuitable for our situation !
When we give the first place to God, it is a joy to grant us what our heart desires.

King David understood that the true key to his happiness came exclusively from his devotion to God. "I ask the Lord for one thing, which I earnestly desire : I would dwell all my days in the house of the Lord, to contemplate the magnificence of the Lord, and to admire his temple." Psalms 27.4

After some time of struggle, I finally understood that I had to give the first place to God. And today I can tell you that in every aspect of my life I see his hand acting and responding to countless needs. "Seek ye first the kingdom and righteousness of God, and all things shall be given unto you." Matthew 6:33.

And you ? Take a moment of reflection ! What place does God occupy in your heart ? Do you still have internal conflicts when he asks you to do something ? Is it central to each of your decisions ?

It seems sometimes easy to put God in the background in our lives, believing thus to find some solutions to our expectations by ourselves. Nevertheless, we should never forget that when we give the first place to God, it will be a joy to grant us what our heart desires.

"Bind thyself to God, and thou shalt have peace: thou shalt thus enjoy happiness." Job 22.21. The will of God should never be challenged by our human reflections. He must always have the first place !

A proclamation for today

Lord, take the first place in my life! In the name of Jesus. Amen.
