The first rider

I then saw the Lamb open one of the seven seals and I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice of thunder : Come ! I looked and saw a white horse appear. He who was riding it had a bow : a crown was given to him and he went out conquering and to achieve victory. Revelation 6:1,2

The book sealed with seven seals is a scroll written on both sides, which means that nothing can be added to it. But who has the right to break the seals to bring God's ways to their final end ? We have seen that the Lamb of God, Jesus, is alone worthy to do so.

Before being able to unroll the book, it is necessary to break the seven seals which hold it closed. This takes us to chapter 11 and the beginning of the great tribulations, those persecutions foretold by the Lord (Matthew 24:15 and following) which will precede the coming of the kingdom of Christ.

The Lamb therefore opens the first seal : a white horse goes out with a warrior who wins a victory and receives a crown, a sign of domination and authority. What did this warrior (man or country) win with ? With a bow, that is, a weapon that allows you to strike from a distance with arrows. Today it reminds us of countries that have modern weapons such as a fleet of bombers or a mass of remote-controlled rockets, all coordinated by satellites.

But, since the September 11, 2001, bombing of New York City skyscrapers, we know that a small, seemingly very weak group of men can cause great damage at long distances.

The battles unfolding before our eyes in many countries can convince us that the conditions necessary for the fulfillment of prophecies are already in place.

Let us remember that the announced events will probably only take place after the abduction of the believers, even though we may witness the first drops of the storm. We await the coming of the Lord and the state of this world confirms to us the proximity of his return.

Let us therefore beg him to wake up his redeemed and make them ready. Alive in Christ, separate from the spirit of the world, be active in using the gift or gifts he has entrusted to each one, presenting the Word of life.
