The forbidden is good !
Genesis 2.17 But you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat from it you shall die.
The word "die" probably should not have meant too much to Adam since death was non-existent in the Garden of Eden. Yet he must have imagined that something would happen if he disobeyed God. However, we must be honest, Adam did not die that day, at least in a physical way ! We all know, however, that on the day that Adam took of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he brought death into the world, spiritual death, and physical death.
My reflection is : when God says something and we are not careful, there are always consequences even if, at the time, nothing happens ! We live in a century of impunity. Governments promulgate laws for the protection of society, but few give themselves the means to enforce them. So the feeling that I can do anything with impunity is taking root more and more in the mindset of our generation.
My beloved, the Word of God is full of warnings for our good. Ignoring them will not bring fire down from heaven to strike us down, but sooner or later there will be consequences for our lives. We have seen so many people stuck in their spiritual progression because of this principle. The only key that I know is to bring all these excesses to the light of repentance, because the Lord likes to forgive and to show his grace.
Young people, I speak to you : “It is not just the immediate that matters. The choices you make in your youth will affect your entire life. Don't turn a deaf ear to advice, why would you hurt yourself ? The prohibition is not to bully you, to upset you or to prevent your development ; on the contrary, it is given for your security and your development”.
Good reflection.
