The glorious freedom

Centuries before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah prophesied that God would send a deliverer to humanity and Jesus Himself stood in a Jewish synagogue on a Sabbath day and reminded the world of this prophecy when He read :

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor ; He has sent me to heal those who are broken-hearted, (4-19) to proclaim release to the captives, and to the blind the recovery of sight, to set free the oppressed ... Today this word of the Scripture, which you have just heard, is fulfilled" (Luke 4:18, 21).

Jesus proclaimed to the whole world : "My mission on Earth is to liberate all wounded lives." To liberate means to "free from all bondage, to remove everything that oppresses." If you believe in the truth of Christ's words, then you know that He says to you : "I was sent to free your life, to free it from all oppression and all ties. I came to free your mind."

Paul preached about "the glorious freedom of the children of God" (Romans 8:21) and urged the Galatians : "For freedom Christ has set us free. Stay firm" (Galatians 5: 1).

Christ came to call every believer to live in freedom. If we believe it, why do we continue to live the same old miserable life ? Is it because we believe that a life totally free of fear and guilt is just too incredible ? Life without a heavy burden of condemnation and depression ? Life in the presence of a loving and loving Savior who cares about all our needs ?

Does it sound too good to be true ? Well, believe it ! Because this is exactly the kind of life Christ wants each of His children to enjoy. Not just a few of His children, but all of them ! This life is freely offered to all who simply trust Him to obtain it.
