The glory of the Lord

Isaiah prophesied : "Behold, the darkness covers the earth, and the darkness the peoples ; But the LORD rises from thee, and his glory appears on thee. Nations go to your light, And kings to the light of your rays" (Isaiah 60: 2-3).

This prophecy speaks of the last days, a time that begins when the light - Jesus Christ our Lord - comes in the depths of darkness. Isaiah spoke of the great light of the glory of Christ that is spreading in the midst of darkness. Multitudes of men and women of the pagan world would then come to His light.

Think about it: there was no darker period in history than when Jesus was born. The great Roman Empire had become a materialistic society full of covetousness. Sexual perversion, drunkenness and gluttony had become the norm. In fact, the entire known world of the time was shrouded in darkness.

At that time, hypocrisy also prevailed. The priests stole their house from the widows, and the simple men, who lacked instruction, despised their so-called spiritual leaders. To put it simply, the blind man led the blind man.

It was in the midst of these deep darkness that Jesus came as a bright light. And we know that from this glorious age multitudes came to His light.

You may say : "Look around us. Deep darkness covers the Earth again." Yes - our time is perhaps the worst in human history. The darkness that weighs on all nations and on all peoples can literally be felt. The nuclear threat, the genocide, the sexual trafficking - all this ravages our hearts.

Yet Jesus is still the light of the world. Isaiah saw the darkness of our time and cried out : "Arise, be enlightened, for your light is coming, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you" (Isaiah 60: 1).

Once again, in the darkest hour of the world, God will manifest His power. It will attract a large number of souls lost in the coming days. He will touch the souls of many people and we will see the glory of the Lord.
