The good choice

It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He would rather be mistreated with the people of God than have the momentary enjoyment of sin. He regarded the humiliation attached to the Messiah as a wealth greater than the treasures of Egypt, for he had his eyes fixed on the reward to come. Hebrews 11.24-26

Moses was educated in all the science of Egypt : strategy, culture, and gods. He could get anything he wanted, luxury, pomp, lavish feasts, riches, women, glory... But he chose to share in the humiliation of God's people.

It was in suffering that he kept his father-in-law's flock for 40 years in the desert. After the revolt and the terrible crisis of unbelief of the people before the land of Canaan, Moses led them into the wilderness for 40 years. None died of hunger or thirst in this desert, however the people frequently attacked him for bread, meat, water...

Moses renounced vanity, the nothingness of the superficial pleasures offered to him by the world. But he had constant fellowship with God, who spoke to him face to face. He also knew that God would give him a glorious inheritance that will last forever. Where would he be if he had preferred the futile pleasures of Egypt ? And you, what choice will you make ?
