The gospel of God concerning his Son

The gospel of God (which he had previously promised through his prophets in holy scriptures), concerning his Son - born of the offspring of David according to the flesh, demonstrated to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead -, Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 1:1-4

The gospel, the good news, is that God sent his only begotten Son into the world out of love for humanity and to save a multitude of men and women from eternal perdition. In heaven we will worship without ceasing as we will measure the immensity of the blessing that his coming has brought to us by grace.

The good news is that God is love. The sending of his own Son is the strongest, most powerful testimony of God's love for us. God could have left us in our sins and in bondage to the devil, with the prospect of eternal judgment. But he did not abandon us to our fate, he gave his only begotten Son to bring back to him those who had refused his benevolent authority. This good news, foretold by the prophets in the scriptures, is proof that God had long prepared his plan of love and grace. The Lamb of God was forerunned before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:19,20).

The good news is that God is light. The holiness of God is absolute. To save sinners, to make them clean, it takes something more than an indulgence that would simply forget the sins. Sin must imperatively be punished. But each sin involves a radical condemnation : death. To solve this problem, God sends his own Son to earth, like a man. Thanks to his perfection, he will be able to take the place of sinners and endure the punishment they deserve.

The good news is that God gives eternal life. Because of sin, death reigns in the world. God therefore sends the prince of life, his Son. By coming among men, all spiritually dead, Jesus, the Son of God, brings them life. He has life according to what he says : I am life. To transmit this eternal life to those who believe in him, he dies and is resuscitated : he bears much fruit, like a grain of wheat, placed in the ground, produces an ear full of new grains.

How wonderful is this good news: the gospel of God... concerning his Son Jesus Christ !
