The gospel of the grace of God
I do not care about my life, nor do I hold it as precious to myself, as long as I complete my course and the service I have received from the Lord Jesus : bearing witness to the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24
The grace of God is really the good news par excellence, the one that Paul had for mission to proclaim to all the nations. This grace begins for us before the foundation of the world, when God elected us in Christ. It is an act of its sovereignty.
Grace is God's love for people who are only worthy of his judgment. Our sins are blotted out by his mighty grace : God places us for the benefit of the work of Christ. Every believer can say : "It was the grace of God that worked in me to show me how sinful I was. It was his grace that led me to Jesus Christ to find salvation."
With the forgiveness of our sins, the grace of God has given us eternal life. Even more, she made us children of God, heirs, from now on, without waiting for heaven.
To have the strength to live to his glory, God has given us his Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit dwells in us. And if we are left on earth, it is to serve the One to whom we belong. It is the grace of God that he calls us his co-workers. So we spread the gospel of the grace of God, aware of the favor he grants us to proclaim such a beautiful gospel.
At the end of our life, too, we can have peace. As with the thief on the cross, Jesus consoles the dying believer : Today you will be with me in paradise, with the Savior himself. Isn't this the triumph of his grace ?
But maybe we won't go through death. Indeed, Jesus himself will come to seek us, resuscitate all the believers who have already died, transform those who are alive and take us all together to meet him. So we will always be with the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:17).
Let us become more aware of divine grace. It will stimulate our love, our dedication to God, our zeal to announce the good news of the wonderful grace of God.
