The greatest act of humility

The one who will rise will be lowered and the one who will be lowered will be high. Matthew 23:12

In almost every case of the Bible, as in life, pride is associated with failure, not success. We hear a lot about the inferiority complex, but we rarely talk about the superiority complex of pride. It was the pride that caused the fall of Lucifer, and he became Satan, the devil. It is pride that has led King Saul to a shameful and premature death. It is pride that has led Peter to deny his Lord.

The greatest act of humility in the history of the universe was when Jesus Christ bent down to die on the cross of Calvary. And before any man can go to heaven, he must kneel at the foot of the cross and acknowledge that he is a sinner, that he has broken the Ten Commandments of God, and that he needs the grace of God in Christ. No man can come proudly to the Savior.

Prayer for the day

Lord Jesus, You suffered such humiliation and pain for me on the cross. I ask you, humbly, to forgive my pride and the wandering ways that nailed you there.
