The greatness of our God

David, the psalmist, reminds us of the greatness of God, even in the midst of the rivers that submerge us. The rivers we are passing through at this time may have raised their voices, but God reigns over all of nature. He alone has control.

David gives voice to the supplication of those who are submerged by the waves in their souls: "Save me, O God ! Because the waters threaten my life. I sink into the mud, unable to hold myself ; I fell into a pit, and the waters flood me. I exhaust myself to shout, my throat dries up, My eyes are consumed, while I look to my God" (Psalms 69: 1-3).

But David also gave us the answer that must be ours in the midst of the great waters : "More than the voice of the great, the mighty waters, the rushing waters of the sea, the LORD is mighty in the heavenly places" (93:4).

Right now, great waters are rising for many Christians - afflictions, hardships, serious problems, concerns about what is happening in the world. But God made this promise : "If you cross the waters, I will be with you ; and the rivers, they will not overwhelm you ; If you walk in the fire, you will not burn yourself, and the flame will not set you on fire" (Isaiah 43: 2).

"The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in kindness ... But as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his kindness to those who fear him ... But the kindness of the Lord lasts forever for those who fear him, and his mercy for the children of their children" (Psalms 103: 8,11,17).

"For your goodness rises above the heavens ... and your glory is on all the earth !" (108: 4-5).

"And I am in the house of God like a green olive tree, and trust in the goodness of God for ever and ever" (52: 8).

Allow the Word of God to enlighten you and strengthen you in everything you do !
