The impact of doubt

Tomorrow, at this hour, we will have a measure of fine flour for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria. The officer on whose hand the king was leaning replied to the man of God : When the Lord made windows in heaven, would such a thing happen ? 2 Kings 7.1-2

Besieged by the Aramaic army, the people of Israel were in panic. However, Elisha proclaimed that the next day God would intervene in an extraordinary way. A king's officer doubted that God could bring about such a reversal of the situation. Elisha then replied that God was going to prove that he could do anything, but because of his doubt, he would not enjoy the blessings, nor have any part in this miracle.

It is a similar impact that doubt can have in our lives. Doubt can focus our attention on what our eyes see in the world, to the point of denying the possibility of change. Tragically, doubt can shape our attitude toward God. And when we allow doubt to dominate our lives, we prevent ourselves from receiving the blessings of God and the miracles He is ready to perform.

The Bible says we should have faith in God without doubting, without allowing the things we see in the world to shape our thoughts. Yes, "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11.1)

Today, God wants you to be filled with faith no matter what situation you face. He wants you to take your eyes off your problems and the world as you see it today, and begin to see things from His perspective. Do not allow your heart and your mind to be filled with doubts. Trust God. Entrust your needs to Him and believe that all things are possible.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Is there an area in your life where you doubt that God can really intervene ?

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is a sample prayer : "Father, I hand over to you the situations I am facing. Forgive me for any doubt in my life. Now I declare that I trust you. I believe you can do anything. In the name of Jesus. Amen."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Now, deepen what you have received. What can you put in place to apply what God has told you ? Write down concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"Lord, I thank you for you are the rewarder of those who seek you. To you be the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
