The Lamb alone is worthy
Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof : for thou wast offered as a sacrifice, and thou hast redeemed for God by thy blood men of every tribe, and of every tongue, of every people, and of every nation. Revelation 5:9
The apostle John received from the Lord Jesus a revelation concerning future times, hence the title of the book in which he records it : Revelation or Revelation. This book shows us the fulfillment of God’s plan for his Son. The blessing is promised to those who read and keep it (Revelation 1:3), for everything concerning the Son of God is of the utmost importance. We are especially interested in everything related to his glory, because we love our Savior. It is true that he has bound us to him forever and that we will share his glories.
Revelation speaks of judgments, for the Lord is to reign on the earth; but he will only establish his kingdom over men who accept his authority. In the meantime, God shows immense patience towards men, for he desires that all come to repentance. Yet man prefers the devil to God, as he preferred the robber Barabbas to Jesus the Savior. This is why those who reject the authority of Jesus will face terrible judgments.
In the immense throne room of God, among the angels, the Elders, and the heavenly creatures, only the Lamb of God, Jesus, is found worthy to open the book of God's counsels for the earth. Not only is he the Creator who has all authority over the universe he called into existence (chapter 4 verse 11), but he is above all the Redeemer, which gives him the right to take the book. This dignity he acquired on the cross ; through her, he accomplished the supreme sacrifice which allows the good unfolding of his Father's plan. He redeemed a multitude of men and women into families, kings and priests for God (chapter 5 verses 9, 10).
This book is closed with seven seals. Each time the Lamb opens one of the first four, a horse comes out. The horse represents the action of divine power sent to earth to perform judgments.
When will these judgments begin ? We don't know, but what the Bible tells us is that they are close. It is therefore more urgent than ever to announce to the world that God is still a God of grace and forgiveness. So let's mobilize for that !
