The law of sin still exists !

“The law of the Spirit which gives life in Jesus Christ has set me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8. 2

Do you sometimes think : “What made me do this ? Why did such a thought occur to me ?" The answer is simple : because the law of sin is still in place. Ignorance of this law is no excuse to justify this bad deed that we have just committed. Whatever you say, you are under this law and you are suffering the consequences. If you want to behave like a faithful Christian, you will not escape this constant battle with the forces of evil, as soon as you put your feet on the ground, getting up every morning ! Paul explained it this way : “So I am discovering this law : while I want to do good, evil is within my reach. Indeed, I take pleasure in the law of God, in my interior being, but I note that there is in my members another law ; it fights against the law of my understanding and makes me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Unhappy human being that I am ! Who will deliver me from this body of death ?” (Romans 7. 21-24). Do you feel the same inner tear as the apostle ? Fortunately, he gives us the solution to this dilemma : "The law of the Spirit has freed me from the law of sin...". But the law of sin can only prevail if the flesh, your sinful nature, is still active (Romans 7.1). So the flesh must perish ! Our "selves" have to disappear a little more every day, which is proving difficult. It takes very little for our nature to take over and for us to get angry for nothing ! Recognize today that the law of the Spirit can prevail over the law of sin and draw nearer to the Lord. The closer you are to Him, the stronger will be the law of the Spirit within you, the “law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”.
