The light of the world

The Lord is my light and my salvation ... Psalm 27: 1

Under the image of Peter Milne, hanging in the church he founded on the small island of Nguna in the New Hebrides, we find these words : "When he came, there was no light. he died, there was no darkness." When Christ came into the world, there was no light. Matthew (quoting Isaiah) said of him : "The people who sat in darkness saw a great light, and to those who sat in the region and in the shadow of death, light sprang forth" (Matthew 4 : 16). Harry Lauder once said that during his childhood, he could tell where the lighter was "trailing the light he was leaving behind." Christ was the heavenly Illuminate. Wherever He went, the midnight darkness of sin and despair vanished before Him.

Prayer for the day

My heart and my soul praise you, my resurrected Redeemer, for the light that permeates the deepest darkness and transforms our life with Your love.
