The love does not boast

Bragging does not come from the Kingdom of God. James will say on this subject a strong word : "... The language is a small member, and it boasts great things. Here, as a small fire can ignite a big forest ! The language is also a fire ; it is the world of iniquity. The tongue is placed among our members, defiling the whole body, and igniting the course of life, being itself inflamed by Gehenna" (James 3: 5-6).

Oh, James was a radical, and he was right. Bragging is rising, going beyond what is true, good, right and sensible, it is boasting and putting oneself forward. And it is quite the opposite that Christ came to do : he humbled himself until the death of the cross, for us, voluntarily falling for love. It is simply glorious, wonderful !

In our testimony, we must remove anything that might be old sources of pride. Let us remember that the Apostle Paul watched his entire past life and his status in this world as mud. Some people have a particular background, and boast of great things in their testimony, when they speak with others. Bragging is also a great openness to lying and extrapolation.

Many people talk about their past life as if it is a pride for them. They say : "I was very well know...", "I used to get drugs every day...", "I always went out with lots of girls...", "I was the champion in my field...", Etc. By listening to it, we can sometimes feel a pride that has remained, of what was sin. When we speak of Jesus, we hide in Christ. If the inconverti finds in us the slightest glimmer of resemblance to the world of darkness that he knows so well, he will say to himself that we are not really different from him, and that he already has what he needs in the world. He does not need anyone to teach him to be even more boastful than he already is.
