There will be a judgment for those who have lived in dishonesty in this world. This attitude causes many opportunities to fall. I remember being young, talking about Jesus to my friends, but I was as dishonest as they were, if not more. I stole, I cheated, I coveted, in short, I was not a model ! And because of that, my testimony lost its consistency and strength. It was because the apostles were different that their word was fortified, "God working with them and confirming their preaching with the miraculous signs that accompanied him" (Mark 16:20). God works with honest people, and we can easily understand him.
Some people talk about Jesus at work, but all of their colleagues are aware that they like their schedules, their taxes, and so on. Everyone knows that they live in compromise or that they are corrupt. Everyone has heard them mocking the lady downstairs who smells bad, criticize the worker who did his job badly and boast of immoral or impure things! We can not afford that, not only because of our love for God, but also because of God's love for the lost. We owe it to ourselves to live and walk like models, in this world where models become rare. We can not present ourselves in the world dressed in a white garment that stinks of fish !
It reminds me of the fish seller in the Asterix comic strip, whose fish apparently smelled very bad. He might say they were cool and have a nice sign on his shop, the smell spoke louder than him! Sometimes our smell speaks more than our words. "We are indeed to God the sweet odor of Christ among those who are saved and among those who perish" (2 Corinthians 2:15). I never went into a stinking perfume shop, and I never felt a dung that smelled of rose. The scent is supposed to smell good, and the dung smell bad. This is how. What is your smell ?
