The love of God

God is love. This is how the love of God is manifested towards us : God sent his only begotten Son into the world so that through him we might have life. 1 John 4. 8, 9

The love of God

Have you had this extraordinary experience of discovering that God loves you unconditionally ?

Is it really possible ? At the thought that God exists, I am uncomfortable because certain faults weigh on my conscience. These lies, these cowardice that I want to hide from my fellow human beings, can I hide them from God ? How to escape this malaise ? Should I do penance, do some good deeds to make God favorable to me ?

No, the love of God cannot be earned, it is impossible. And an honest reading of what is going on in our inner being and our life shows us that we are totally unworthy of it.

The truth is quite different : God loves us because he is love, and not because we are lovable.

But while it is true to say that God loves us unconditionally, that does not mean that he is the good God, indulgent towards all the sins of mankind.

Because God is love, he offers everyone free of charge the means to be saved from his condition of guilty, incompatible with the holiness of God.

Because God is light and love, he did not want to leave us in this state, unrelated to him. Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, then came to earth to take upon himself the punishment our sins deserved. So God can forgive anyone who finds himself guilty.

Because he loves you, God awaits you, just as you are. Don't wait any longer to come to him !
