The love of Jesus does not depend on your state

"And behold, they brought him (to Jesus) a paralytic lying on a bed." Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic : "Take courage, my child, your sins are forgiven you." Matthew 9.2

In general, and rightly so, we like to use this verse, to demonstrate the power of God through the physical healing of this paralytic, and to testify that Jesus alone has the power to forgive our sins. By his power he can also restore our relationship with our creator.

"In his love, Jesus reminds you today to" take courage, your sins are forgiven you !""

Then, I think about this paralytic and his condition. This man was not just braked in his life, he was stopped... Unable to move !

I say to myself, that certainly this man had projects in mind ! He wished to be released from this situation. And yet he was paralyzed. In other words, unable to act or function. Perhaps even put aside by his fellow men because of this "difference" of life. And what's more frustrating and more frightening, than to have a heart filled with desires for freedom and to be firmly imprisoned...

The first word that Jesus will send to him is "Take courage". Extraordinary no ? What a comforting, strengthening and hopeful word from the master of all things! Jesus did not point fingers at the failed elements of his life to make him feel guilty, as, we do it so easily with others. He did not say to him : "Well, here you are, you have been warned, now see your state, I advise you to repent, if you want at least to save your soul..."

The second most extraordinary word of Jesus is "my child". Even before forgiving his sins, he will invade him with his Father's love by calling him that.

In the same way, you are his child and, in his love, Jesus reminds you today to "take courage, your sins are forgiven you !"

A prayer for today

Thank you Jesus for loving me and for reminding me today. Forgive me for doubting, fixing my eyes on my situation which prevents me from approaching you. Today, on your word, I get up and I run towards you, my eyes fixed on your omnipotence, your love and your kindness to me Jesus. I love you. Amen.
