"You will seek me and you will find me, for you will seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
Notice that the Magi have not found Christ in the business world. The hostels in Bethlehem were full.
Rather than ending exhausted, disappointed and in debt the day after Christmas, invite Jesus into your life.
Nothing has changed today! Thirty per cent of the year's sales are made during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Fifty percent of the year's festivities take place during this period. Ten percent of annual alcohol sales occur in the last days of December. Clearly, Jesus sells.
Our problem is to prefer the myth to the Master, Santa Claus to the Savior, fairy tales to historical facts. What facts ? The fact that Christ came into the world to save sinners (1Timothy 1:15).
We tell the story of a child chosen to play the role of innkeeper in a room representing the nativity. He had to tell Joseph and Mary that there were no more rooms available. The evening of the performance, he stood up like a tetanized face to the public, then he said with a smile : "I should tell you that there is no more room, but so much the worse, come anyway !"
The author of a hymn wrote : "A place for pleasure, a place for business, but none for the crucified Christ, no place in the hearts of those for whom he died."
Rather than ending exhausted, disappointed and in debt the day after Christmas, invite Jesus into your life.
An action for today
You may regret decisions made this year, but if you make Jesus your Lord and Savior, this will be the best decision you will make in your entire life.
