"Your transgressions are discovered." Ezekiel 21. 29
"Have you come to my house to remember my iniquity ?" 1 Kings 17. 18
In recent years, scientists have been analyzing the layers of ice cores. Ice cylinders, a few tens of centimeters in diameter, are thus called ice cylinders. They are extracted by drilling and their length can exceed 3000 meters. At the Vostok Science Station in Antarctica, the drilling reached a depth of 3,623 m.
The analysis of gases trapped in the bubbles of the strata gives the composition of the ancient atmosphere, that of mineral dust can be traced back to volcanoes that have exploded over millennia. The analysis of recent strata reveals products such as DDT, pesticides, nitrates, sulphates, traces of radioactive fallout ... trapped in the ice, and knowing when they were trapped. We know today that this pollution endangers the equilibrium of the living world and even disturbs the climate.
These ice cores have thus put in memory our madness! Today, they speak, they testify against us. Profit has blinded us and we have been bad managers of our planet. We are like a culprit in the face of irrefutable proof that confuses him.
But, much more serious, it will be the same for all those who will appear before the great white throne when they are "judged each according to his works" (Rev. 20. 13). Open books will put in memory the iniquity of their works, the proofs will be indisputable and overwhelming.
As for the believers who, in all times, put their hope in God according to the knowledge that they had of his thoughts and of himself, for those, God expressly says : "I will never remember their sins and their iniquities" (Heb 8: 12, 10, 17). Their faults were brought and expiated by Jesus, our substitute, at the time of the cross. God can not "put them in memory" and nobody will produce them as proof of accusation.
"Who will bring an accusation against God's elect ? - It is God who justifies ! Who is the one who condemns ? - It is Christ who died, even more, who is also risen, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us !" (Romans 8:33, 34) : the believer can no longer be held for guilty !
