The money does not buy everything !

"They can not redeem one another, nor give to God the price of their redemption. The redemption of their soul is dear, and will never take place." Psalm 49: 8-9

Many philosophers, thinkers, columnists have had the opportunity to express themselves on the theme of the power of money. Here are some of the quotes here and there :

"You can buy the pleasure but not the love."

"You can buy a slave but not a friend."

"You can buy a woman but not a wife."

"You can buy food but not the appetite."

"You can buy a medicine but not health."

"You can buy tranquilizers but not peace."

"You can buy the acquittal, or a non-place, during an indictment, but not forgiveness."

The only price that can redeem us is the one who has been paid by Christ.

Above all, we say that we can not buy God or heaven, even if religions have, since the dawn of time, sought to monetize divine clemency. But God is not for sale.

How could we buy the one to whom everything belongs ? The managers we are, can they buy the one who entrusted them with his goods ? To those who wanted to buy his forgiveness, God said : "What have I to do with the multitude of your sacrifices ?" Isaiah 1.11

Concerning the redemption of our souls, in the text of this day, God reminds us that this redemption is impossible. That has the merit of being clear ! There is no human resource, no gift, as important as it is, that can save us! No gift, no legacy, no fortune can buy the rest of our souls ! Those who imagine that a big check left to this or that religious organization can facilitate their access to heaven, are mistaken.

The only price that can redeem us is the one who has been paid by Christ. Peter tells us clearly : "It is not by perishable things, by money or gold that you have been redeemed ... but by the precious blood of Christ ..." 1 Peter 1.18-19

It is impossible for us to buy our salvation, just as it is impossible for us to make any money whatsoever. It is not because you are going to give, that you will be blessed.

Leaving certain biblical texts out of context, religious people push believers to give so that they receive in return healing, wealth, health, work, prosperity ... They use texts like this : "Give, and you will be given ..." Luke 6.38

To suggest that if you give, you will receive in return. They give a glimmer - sometimes to those who are in great poverty - that according to their generosity, they will obtain this or that divine favor. It's a lie that only benefits these barbers !

A prayer for today

Thank you Lord, for your forgiveness, your salvation and your blessing are freely offered to me in Jesus Christ !
