The one of my more biggest errors...

The one of my biggest errors in the evangelisation has been to have the so-called "sinner's prayer" pray to people on the street, in the church or elsewhere, saying : "You have now Jesus in your heart !".

At first, I prayed this prayer to all those who wanted it. I realized that not only was I wrong, but what I was doing was dangerous : I, who was supposed to tell them the truth, misled them into creating a false hope for their salvation. Sometimes the false hopes that were given to unbelievers brought them to hell. We sought to reassure them, then experiencing a compassion all human, but so calming their conscience and blocking the work of conviction of sin in it. It's terrible !

One day we spoke of the Lord to our neighbor. She came to church and was beginning to be touched. We often thought that "being touched" was enough to make people declare the "sinner's prayer," but there were thousands of people touched by Jesus, and it was these same people who shouted a little later : "Crucify him".

Many people suffer in the world and can easily be touched in their emotions. They may cry, shout, gesticulate, and even begin to feel remorse, without being under a conviction of sin. At the end of the meeting, I had my neighbor pray to her to accept the Lord. She never came back to church. She was not saved and the result would have been the same if I had baptized her with water : a useless bath ! Why ? She was not under a conviction of sin. It is even possible that she went home and said to herself : "Ah, that's it, to be saved, oh that's it, to become a child of God ?... I'm always so sad, nothing has changed, but I'm saved."

I created in her a false hope, making her believe that it was that, the salvation, although she is always in the direction of hell !
